I want to tell you a story.

In 1958, our country was in a severe recession.

The worst we had seen since World War II.

Birmingham, Alabama was especially hard hit, as they were an industrial city with steel mills that were particularly affected by the recession.

Thousands of people were out of jobs and the situation was so bad that Birmingham was declared a disaster area, and bread lines were filled with its citizens.

Everyone was talking “hard times”, and were discouraged and depressed.

A small group of business and professional people in that city approached a preacher lady and asked her if she would consider teaching a “Prosperity Class” once a week.

She agreed, and they began to meet once a week to study to study the subject of prosperity and to develop the laws of prosperity of wealth.

They started with this simple foundation:

Turn the great energy of your thinking upon ideas of plenty,and you will have plenty …regardless of what people around you are saying or doing.

They began to do this in their weekly class and were amazed at how quickly it worked!

Within one week, two secretaries received raises on their jobs!
A stockbroker, who had fallen on hard times because of the economy, had a client walk into his office (who he had not seen in years) and hand him a check of $200,000 for investment purposes. That stock broker’s income was 4 X what it had been … in the first month of taking the class.
Several businessmen began to collect money that was due to them … right in the midst of the recession.
A lawyer’s client began to pay him!
A sales lady in a department of 100 sales people was the only person to receive a commission check that month – because she was the only one who sold enough to receive one!
construction engineer went from working on a $1.5 million project in Alabama to work on a $15.5 million project in the Midwest.
Several marriages were saved. As a matter of fact, one couple who had been divorced, re-married.
Two people even became Millionaires!
